Hi, I’m Dawn, I’m 44 years young, and Mum to two boys and one non binary child. Also cat Mum to one naughty ginger tom called Georgie. I starting making jewellery in 2014 shortly after losing my younger sister. It helped distract me from my grief, and bead deliveries gave me something to look forward to. I then re-took up knitting and started selling the odd knitted item, and then I stated selling cards. After many years of trying, I finally cracked crochet!! That became my new love.
Around about 2018, I fell out of love with crafting. I think the stress of it being my only income, and trying to single-handedly raise my 3 children became too much. Luckily I found a job as a cleaner in a high school, which was a life saver.
Slowly I started taking up my crafts again, but this time they could be more of a hobby without the stress of needing to sell what I made.
In Jan 2020, I had a fall while out running, and caused permanent damage to my left hand. Once I was able to use it again, I had to re-learn new ways to crochet and make my jewellery, knitting is a no no now as I can’t hold the needle in my left hand!
Fast forward to Covid and the lockdown. Whist still working my day job, we weren’t having too work our full hours, so I had more time on my hands. I fell in love with skin care, and began to take more care of myself, I’ve even been making my own lotions and potions!! Home-schooling wasn’t the most fun I’d ever had, but oddly I enjoyed spending more time with my children, gardening, cooking, movie watching, even crafting together! I was a little bit sad to see everything return to normal.
So that’s me! Thanks for reading.
